Dear Associate Member
The introductory scheme has been running for almost 18 months, during which
time we hope you used the Club and found it to your liking. Renewal of your
membership will be £15 and this will be levied on an annual basis from
here on in. This renewal must be paid before 1st April 2006.
You should receive a letter before 24/03/06 along with your renewal
application form. This application must be filled in along with your payment
to ensure proper processing of your renewal. If you do not receive a letter,
there are spare copies behind the bar.
There have been several cosmetic improvements made in the last year and we
are now starting to bring other areas of the Club up to acceptable standards.
We hope to have the new snooker room on the top floor operational by mid
April, by which time the building warrant for the conversion of the middle
floor to a function room / bar should be through and work can start
immediately. We hope to create the most attractive bar of its type in the
west end of Aberdeen.
The no smoking ban comes into effect on 26th March and the
hoped for exemption for private clubs has not materialised. We are currently
exploring the possibility of building an outside terrace accessed from the
Alex Cowie bar which would provide an all year round beer garden and cater
for smokers. This will be subject to the relevant planning permission and
licensing issues.
The Committee has not allowed new full membership of the Club whilst the
current upheaval was taking place but existing associates may apply for one
of a limited number of full memberships if they so wish. This is set at £65
and gives the member voting rights, allows them to nominate associate members and
take a more active part in the running of the Club. Your £15 associate renewal
is deductable from this £65- details of how to apply for this are available at the bar.
It is the intention of the current Committee to create a comfortable,
viable establishment providing reasonably priced food and drink in Queens
Road. This can only be done with your continued support.
Regards
The Committee
